Hybrid GraphicsHybrid Graphics refers to the ability to create, convert, and combine raster and vector graphics. By default, Acrylic opens a new document in vector layer mode letting you create vector drawings unless you change this default behavior in Preferences. Clicking the New Layer button on the Layer palette gives you the option to create a new layer in either vector or pixel mode.
![]() A pixel layer is distinguished from a vector layer by a checkered layer color box in the Layers palette, which in this case is green and white checked:
![]() Choosing a pixel layer in the Layer List causes the toolbox to display pixel tools.
![]() The Stroke/Brush List changes as well to display pixel brushes. ![]() A checkered background in the stroke preview preceding the stroke name in the Stroke/Brush List palette indicates that the brush has a transparent background while a solid white background means that the brush is not transparent. Try it out. Create a pixel layer, choose the Pixel Brush tool and start painting in the drawing area. Your only limitation is that you must stay within the document frame with pixel paint. If you need more space for your masterpiece, increase the document frame size by choosing File > Document Setup and setting new specifications. Layer Preferences: You can change the default behavior and have Acrylic open new documents in pixel layer mode or to ask for a layer type. To do this, choose File > Preferences and change the setting in the drop down box labeled "New doc 1st layer type." Choosing the "Ask User" setting gives you the option to set the pixel resolution when you open new documents.
